Customer Reviews. I have tried a number of PCIe SATA cards, and this was the first one I was able to get to work without any problems. This card uses the ASMEDIA ASM1061 controller which is a fairly common controller used by motherboard manufacturers, including my Asus Sabertooth Z77 which has 2 of these controllers onboard. Both the UEFI and Windows 8 detected the card and attached devices immediately.

StarTech.com 2 Port PCI Express Internal SATA II Controller Card PEXSATA22I

I bought this product not to expand SATA headers but to replace them. My mini-itx motherboard seemed to have fried SATA headers so I bought this pci card instead of buying a new motherboard which would cost me around $70. It worked great right out of the box with Windows Vista x86 and I guess it would work great with any version or edition of Windows (either x86 or x64). No problems with it, cheap and solid. Completely satisfied with my purchase.

I purchased this item about a month ago (04/2010) for a Dell i630 running Windows 7 Pro (64-bit). I use it to control two LightScribe-capable DVD drives as I use the internal 4 ports to support 4 hard drives. The card I received does not come with a Windows 7 driver, however, the Vista driver seems to work just fine. I recommend this controller card for non-critical usage. For me it "just worked" out of the box.

My dell dimension 2400 doesn't have a sata port, so I got this along with my new hard drive. It works great, boots from this card and everything. It is kinda slow, but I don't think you can avoid that with any pci sata card.

This PCI adapter card is an excellent product and value for the price.Most of the PCI adapter cards available on the market these days will not perform up to the standards this card will give you.The controller alone is worth the price of the card.Also, you will get two additional sata drive ports on the the card in case you don't have any sata ports available on your computer.The card is totally bootable from your PCI slot,unlike alot of other PCI cards.Pop the card in a PCI slot without connecting the cables to the card.Boot your computer and load the driver,then shut down the computer to reconnect cables to your card.Boot your computer again and the card works great with windows XP.This card is user friendly and works as it should.I am totally impressed with this card and you cannot go wrong purchasing it for this outstanding value.
